I’ve featured Wendi Gratz of Shiny Happy World often here at the quilting channel. She creates wonderfully whimsical embroidery and applique patterns in her shop (I bought her cat pattern awhile back…love it!). One of her latest projects is this Safari Quilt she designed expressly to teach beginning applique for quilt blocks. She was finishing up the quilt, shown, as hurricane Sandy hit the northeastern United State. She explains,
The quilt and the people hit by the storm are now linked together in my mind – and I decided to auction off the quilt and donate the money to the Red Cross.
So generous! If you are looking for a way to help those suffering from the aftermath of Sandy, go check out her auction and make a bid for this adorable Safari Quilt.
