Video Tutorial – 5 Ways To Use Masking Tape When Quilting

December 21, by Shellie Wilson. 1 Comment

Here are five fast and simple sewing techniques to help improve your quilting proficiency. These are my masking tape hints & tricks to help you improve your sewing accuracy.

Here are my own top 5 ways to use tape too:

  1. Use masking tape to mark precise seam allowances. By placing a strip of masking tape along the edge of your fabric, you can easily see where your seam should be sewn and ensure that you are keeping a consistent seam allowance.
  2. Use masking tape to mark the placement of quilt blocks. If you are working on a quilt that requires precise placement of blocks, use masking tape to mark the placement of each block on your quilt top. This will help you ensure that your blocks are evenly spaced and aligned.
  3. Use masking tape to mark the center of your fabric. When working on projects that require precise centering, such as quilts or clothing, use masking tape to mark the center of your fabric. This will help you ensure that your project is evenly balanced and symmetrical.
  4. Use masking tape to mark the placement of buttons. If you are sewing buttons onto a garment or other project, use masking tape to mark the placement of the buttons. This will help you ensure that the buttons are evenly spaced and aligned with the buttonholes.
  5. Use masking tape to mark the placement of embroidery designs. If you are embroidering a design onto a fabric, use masking tape to mark the placement of the design. This will help you ensure that the design is centered and evenly spaced on your project.

By using these simple masking tape hints and tricks, you can improve your sewing accuracy and take your quilting skills to the next level.
