Tulip Quilt – Free Pattern

March 27, 2021 by Claudia Porter

Here is a big, bold, and beautiful quilt pattern from Allspice Abounds.  Perfect for spring, or any other season, this is such a happy quilt.  Not only is it in full bloom with all of the tulips, if you look closely you will see some sweet birds scattered throughout.

This quilt uses two techniques, piecing and appliqué.  The birds and the leaves of the flowers are appliquéd on, while the blooms and stems are pieced.

There is a detailed downloadable pdf for the six page pattern.  You will find all of the measurements and cutting instructions.  You will also find templates for the appliqué shapes. There are a lot of parts to this quilt, so I would not necessarily recommend this for a beginner quilter.

The finished quilt measures about 56″ x 74″, so it’s a nice twin size.

The best part about this quilt, in my opinion, is that it is ideal for scraps.  If you have been reading my posts here, you know by now that I love scrappy quilts and this is a good one.
