Fat Quarter Wall Hanging Quilt – Free Pattern

June 1, by Claudia Porter. Leave a Comment

Here is a fun and free quilt pattern that has lots of lovely movement in the design.  Called “Midnight Glow”, it is designed by Connie Kresin and is an easy project to make.

Measuring approximately 24″ x 32″ when completed, it is not a large quilt.  It is an ideal size for a wall hanging.  Because of the lay out of the strips, you can use scraps or various precuts.  What I really love is how just a turn of the block makes everything look so different.

The tutorial includes measurements for a number of different sizes of the blocks.  That way you can make a larger quilt or table runner if you prefer.

Bright and cheerful, I love the fabrics that Connie uses in her quilt.  I also think it would be beautiful so many other combinations as well.  I’m envisioning making one with fall colors.

Video Tutorial – Easy Charm Pack Quilt

Here’s what you can do with your spare Jelly Roll strips and stash: construct a gorgeous quilt! Kimberly made her Jelly Roll Scrap Quilt with 13 additional Jelly Roll strips left over from another quilt, as well as extra background.  Check out her starching skills, you can also DIY and make your own spray starch for quilting.

1. Mix 1 1/2 tbsp cornstarch with 2 cups of distilled water until all lumps are dissolved.
2.  Fill a glass spray bottle.

Enjoy a brief quilting time lapse of Kimberly constructing the quilt after watching a basic block instruction with additional Jelly Roll strips!
