Perfect for a new baby or a young child, this fun and free quilt pattern from A Bright Corner is a must-make.  With a downloadable pdf pattern, this is a good quilt for a beginner and is fat quarter-friendly too.

The pdf has fabric and cutting requirements and some instructions too.  What is great about this pattern is that a simple change of fabrics give this pattern a whole new look.  Need a quilt for a new baby?  This is a good one.  Can you imagine it in pastels?  It would be so pretty.

If you are more experienced and are able to make some adjustments to a pattern, you could also make a larger version of the quilt to get a lap size.
