I received a review copy of the book Stash Happy: Patchwork: 25 Sewing Projects for Fabric Lovers from Sterling Publishing | Lark Crafts.
Things I love about the book: The projects in this book are imaginative and fresh. Plus you get links to two free projects mentioned in the book. Here’s the link to their free projects page http://www.larkcrafts.com/bonus/. Free project Number 1 is the Retro Potholder to go with the awesome Retro Apron, pg 66 and free project Number 2 (no pun intended) is the Doggone Dog Bag to go with the Doggone Dog Collar, pg 83. See photos below.
Author Cynthia Shaffer is a sewer who knows her way around patchwork and how to best join it into non quilt projects. The Honeycomb Sheet Set uses charming hexagons (get your English paper piecing on), and the Dresden Plate floor rug uses adorable Dresden Plate blocks. The Pretty Petite Dress (miniature) and the Little Sweetheart Dress (for a real little girl) are both precious.
But being a quilter, my favorite project is the Wonky Cottage Lap Quilt. I love the houses and the variation tip where they suggest making the houses look more modern. Apartments on a linen background and you might have a Jacquie quilt on your hands. Additionally, this quilt rolls up so it’s ready to go on an adventure.
Things to note: Some of these projects might frustrate a beginning sewer.
