Book review: Jump-Start your Quilting

February 28, 2011 by Scarlett Burroughs

Precut fans, this one’s for you. I received an evaluation copy of this patchwork inspired projects book Jump-Start your Quilting edited by Jeanne Stauffer. The Publisher is House of White Birches with a release date of April 1, 2011.

Looking for Quilting supplies and Fabric? Check out Fat Quarter Shop
Product Description: Featuring patterns for shoulder bags, totes, wallets, pillows, runners, aprons, dog coats, and wall quilts, this resource offers quilters a quick way to make complete works by using precut fabrics.

Pros: With 45 projects, the book offers something for everyone. They include a Fabric and Supplies list which is nice if you want to find the exact fabric or batting used in a project. They also have something I’ve never seen in a quilt book – a Photo Index. Since quilters must make use of a visual roadmap to quilt, this addition makes sense to me.

Cons:  If you are looking for projects that will stretch your piecing skills (advanced level) this is not the book for you.
