I don’t know about you, but when the weather starts to get cooler and the kids go back to school, I am ready to start some fall quilting. I think it must have something to do with all of the glorious colors that the season brings. The browns, rusts, and golds inspire me to get back to my sewing machine. Not only am I inspired to create, but as soon as September rolls around, out come all of my fall decorations. This mini Autumn Star quilt would be a delightful addition to those items.
I think it was the rich colors that immediately drew my attention to this pattern by The Seasoned Homemaker. Measuring 24″ x 24″, it would be a lovely addition to anyone’s fall decor. One of the best parts of this design is that it is fat quarter friendly. So, if you are like me and have a stash of fat quarters just calling out to be used, then this project is for you.
Interested in trying a new quilting stitch? With its crisp geometric look, this design is also an ideal way to show off your quilting skills. Because it’s a mini, it can be displayed almost anywhere. It can be hung on the wall, used as a table topper, or even draped over a fireplace mantel.
And don’t forget that you can switch up the colors too. Can you imagine this done in Christmas fabrics? It would be so pretty, and anyone would be happy to get a homemade gift like it.
Not only will you find the free downloadable PDF pattern, there are easy step by step photos and instructions to walk you through the entire quilt making process. The author even includes her pro tips. You can find the tutorial and the PDF pattern here.
