8 Free Quilted Christmas Mug Rug Patterns

September 8, 2018 by Shellie Wilson

These quilting patterns are all free and are all for mug rugs. What is a mug rug?  A fancy name for a small placemat.

All of these mug rugs have a Christmas theme and most of them are suitable for beginners. I love mug rugs as they are a quick and easy Quilting project. They are small enough to gift at Christmas time too as they don’t take up hours and hours of work. They are very sweet for Santa’s cookies. Here is the full list of free patterns and tutorials so that you can make your own Christmas holiday-themed Mug rugs too.

Today, I am going to share a story with you about kindness and gratitude.

A few weeks ago, I sewed a mug rug quilt for my local church group. It was a fundraiser. Everyone loved the mug rugs and I have an order for 10 more. I am very excited as I love making these in different Christmas designs for the holidays.

However, the best part of the experience was the kindness and generosity of the people who participated in the fundraiser. Many people donated money, materials, and time to help me make the quilts.

This mug rug quilt is a beautiful reminder of the kindness and generosity of the people in my community. It has truly made my day and given me a sense of gratitude. I hope that you can take a moment to be kind and generous to others in your life. It will make them happy, and it will make you happy too.

Last but not least is the Christmas Tree Mug Rug.

As a child, I loved going to my aunt’s house. We would all pile into her small, but the cozy living room and watch movies or play games. I especially loved the winters, when we would all huddle around the wooden table to drink hot cocoa. I loved the warmth of the mug against my hands and the comforting sound of the ceramic mug as it made little ripples on the table.

But one winter, I was careless. I put a hot cocoa mug onto the wooden table at my aunt’s house. It damaged the table. My aunt must have seen the damage because she called me into her room and scolded me. She told me that from now on I would have to use a mug rug on the table every winter. The memory of her unahppy face still makes me cry every time I see a table with a bowl of popcorn or a coffee mug set too close to the wood.
