Most quilters I know sew primarily to mark personal events and milestones of their friends and loved ones. But when something like 9/11 happens, the response from quilters can turn public. And it did when thousands joined Corey Gammel and Peter Marquez in creating the United in Memory 9/11 Victims Memorial Quilt. Now, you can see seven of the panels that make up the quilt in a special exhibit at the International Quilt Study Center, Lincoln Nebraska.
If you cannot make it to the exhibit, don’t worry, you can still view the blocks online.

I saw the quilt at the Homestead in Ohio and have often looked for more info. So glad that part of it is being displayed!
