Sarah Watson, an illustrator and fabric designer, did a guest post at Right Sides Together to celebrate the release of her book, Pen to Thread. There, she shows Lauren’s readers how to take her clever envelope design all the way from thread selection, tracing and personalizing to a fine stitchy finish. She uses basic embroidery stitches, which makes it the perfect embroidery project for beginners. But easy does not mean boring; you’ll see she uses four thread types and color to keep it interesting.

Good Morning Scarlett! This is a great tutorial and one that could be used in many ways. Several years ago, I hosted a fabric postcard swap and this would have been very helpful to use for stitching the postal information side. Plus, just a fun way to do a label on a quilt project also comes to mind. Thank you for sharing this wonderful tutorial and have a fantastic creative day!
