Cats amid bright strips of fabric make this quilt top sing. Made by Allison, of Cluck Cluck Sew, she says this is a great way to thin out the scraps from your stash. I’d call her design a Fence Rail variation. Where it has three strips to make up a block, hers has five.

In addition to frugal, Allison says this project is a good choice for beginning quilters. I agree and I’ll tell you why. Students get practice cutting with a rotary blade and sewing straight lines. Finally, the layout requires no matching of seams.
