Few designs are as iconic as a turkey for Thanksgiving, and this scrappy Tom Turkey quilt block is pretty cute as far as turkeys go. I’m partial to scrap fabric projects, so this pattern immediately caught my eye.
When finished, this block should measure 14″ square. It’s made up of various squares, half square triangles and other shapes. To assemble the block you need standard quilting and sewing supplies. The legs are made with a zig zag stitch.
I like the colors that the designer used in her block. They are bright and cheerful. Like all patterns, you could easily change up the colors, perhaps making them more autumnal. For a scrappy quilt, you make a whole flock of these turkey blocks.
The fun and festive tutorial contains everything you need to know. There are fabric requirements, along with cutting and sewing instructions.
Start raiding your fabric bins and gather up your favorite scraps for this charming quilt block.
