I don’t know about you, but I tend to shy away from curved piecing. From time to time I will give it a try because curves open up a whole other realm of quilt design. If you are like me and tend to avoid curves when quilting, then you will want to check out this tutorial from Wren Collective.
First and foremost, the photos are stunning and there is one for every step in the process. That is extremely helpful. As the author points out in her article, there are two distinct ways of piecing curves, pin or no pin. This method is one with pins, lots of them.
In fact, this tutorial makes it look easy, and after you have tried a few, it probably will be.
Curves in quilts add so much movement. Even though one sees them a lot in modern quilting, take a look at vintage quilts. You see them more often than you might think. Blocks like the drunkard’s path and the Dresden plate are two that come to mind.
