One great thing about the internet is that you can find almost anything and that includes how to begin to quilt. As your new Quilting Editor I want to make things really easy for you so please be sure to check back here regularly as I plan on gathering a variety of links to help you get started. Allow me to introduce you to The Quilter’s Cache graciously provided by Marcia Hohn. Scroll down to the drop down menu (it is just below the Quilts blocks Galore lettering approximately one quarter of the way down the page) and you will be able to easily navigate where you would like to go on the site.
Lesson 1 will give you a very accurate list of the basics that you need to get started. Lesson 2 deals with calculations, which is a must, Lesson 3 is all about paper piecing, Lesson 4 appliqué, Lesson 5 Binding including how to make your own,Lesson 6 Color Theory and I want to say please do not skip this part. Colors can certainly make or break your quilt design. Last but not least is Lesson 7 drafting or how to successfully change the size of a quilt block.
