Originally designed by Sharon Holland to showcase the Autumn Vibes fabric line by Maureen Cracknell for Art Gallery Fabrics, this quilt truly is reminiscent of its name Autumn Winds.
Made with half square triangles, flying geese and squares, the finished quilt measures 70″ x 70″. Using the colors and fabrics shown in the pattern, the quilt has a southwestern feel to it.
One of the things I like best about a pattern like this one is that it uses a lot of different fabrics. This one suggests 12 of them, so it is right up my alley. I’ll let you in on a little secret, while I love all kinds of quilts, my favorite kinds of quilts are scrap ones.
The downloadable pdf pattern has clear and thorough instructions to help you put this quilt together. It even includes instructions for adding the backing, quilting and adding the binding. That is something that one doesn’t see in every pattern. It’s like a little bonus tutorial. The best part of it is that it’s a free. Who doesn’t love a free pattern?
