If you want to be amazed at your own quilting work then you have to do this incredible lion pattern by Violet Craft.  It can be purchased over on the Confident Stitch website.  Wow is it stunning.

It is an english paper piecing pattern that measures 20″ x 20″ when finished and it is a paper pattern.  It comes with reusable pieces and a booklet with complete instructions.  Based on what I can see, I think it might be too difficult for a beginner.
