Emi made an alphabet quilt using Japanese Hiragana. She said many Japanese mothers will use this type of quilt as a learning tool for their children. I learned something from Emi. Japanese falls into 3 general categories – Hiragana (50 characters), Katakana (50 characters), and Kanji (thousands of characters similar to Chinese).
