Free-form piecing is a thing. Quilters using kits has been a thing. But, can improv translate well in a kit? It can if you’re Maze and Vale. Owner, Australian textile designer Leslie Keating, used some of her hand printed fabrics to create the beautiful top you see here. Then, she kitted it. From the product description:
A lesson in a package, this unique kit includes precut fabric and an instruction sheet which will teach you a simple, fun improvisational piecing technique that allows the fabric itself to shine and takes the endless guess work out of arranging scraps in a cohesive design.
Learn a new skill and have a beautiful quilt in the end, it’s brilliant.

I have done some improvised quilt making techniques and they are fun yet can be challenging at the same time. Having the quilt in a kit with the directions would be a fantastic way to learn. Thank you for sharing this!
