How to Make a Scrappy Heart Quilt Block

February 2, by Claudia Porter. Leave a Comment

Two different ways for this charming quilt block from Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom give off two entirely different looks.  Best of all, they are both gorgeous!

I am a sucker for a good scrappy block and this fits the bill.  With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, I am going to be hitting my scrap bins to sew this one up.  I love the suggested quilt layout for this too.

Perfect for beginners, this pattern is a good one to practice some sewing skills.  It is a nice way to learn how to get some nice sharp points.

The tutorial has a complete supplies list and detailed assembly instructions.

Whip up a quick heart quilt with this easy and festive quilt block.  You can find the pattern here: Free Scrappy Heart Quilt Block

Video Tutorial – Easy Charm Pack Quilt

Here’s what you can do with your spare Jelly Roll strips and stash: construct a gorgeous quilt! Kimberly made her Jelly Roll Scrap Quilt with 13 additional Jelly Roll strips left over from another quilt, as well as extra background.  Check out her starching skills, you can also DIY and make your own spray starch for quilting.

1. Mix 1 1/2 tbsp cornstarch with 2 cups of distilled water until all lumps are dissolved.
2.  Fill a glass spray bottle.

Enjoy a brief quilting time lapse of Kimberly constructing the quilt after watching a basic block instruction with additional Jelly Roll strips!
