How to Make a Quilted Dresden Mug Rug

July 24, by Claudia Porter. Leave a Comment

Mug rugs are those easy little projects that make great gifts or sellable items.  They don’t take too much time to make and are a handy way to use up smaller pieces of fabrics.  These Dresden mug rugs from Terri’s Notebook are a perfect example of them.

Designed to mimic a color wheel, they are a rainbow of pretty fabric scraps and would look lovely anywhere.  This detailed tutorial has step-by-step instructions as well as helpful photos to guide you through the process. The design may not best suited for beginners, however the instructions are so good that beginners can give it a try.

As a fan of all things scrappy, these immediately caught my eye and I’m already thinking about some of the fabrics I will use to make mine.  I just need to find the time.

Standard quilting supplies are needed to assemble these.
