Here is a modern take on the traditional quilt-as-you-go method. Designed by Cori over on Hey, Let’s Make Stuff!, this isn’t what you traditionally think of when you think of this technique.
This tutorial is for an 18 inch block and as the author indicates, it is probably not best for someone who has never tried doing a quilt-as-you-go project. Luckily you will find detailed step by step instructions as well as plenty of photographs to help you through the process.
I particularly like the ombré effect Cori achieves with her fabrics. It is really eye-catching and gives the block an added level of interest.
This would make a striking mini quilt for a room. It could also be incorporated into a larger quilt if you prefer.
