Free Snowman Quilt and Throw Pillow Pattern

December 14, 2020 by Claudia Porter

I’m pretty sure that everyone needs one of these absolutely adorable snowmen quilts and throw pillows.  Well, at least I do.  This free pattern from Patchwork Posse is an easy and fast project to make.

With the exception of the appliquéd carrot nose and the button eyes, this is a patchwork quilt made up of squares, half square triangles, and some strips for the border.  Being a fan of scrappy quilts, this design immediately caught my eye because of the variety of blue squares.  They really help make those snowmen shine!

Measuring about 46 inches square, this wall hanging requires 1 1/2 yards of fabric for the blue squares, 3/8 yard for the snowmen, and about half a yard for the border.  The tutorials describes exactly what to cut and how to put it all together.  You will need fusible webbing for the appliquéd nose.

One of the best parts of this tutorial is that there is also a pattern for a throw pillow in the same design.  What a cute idea!  I’m thinking this would be adorable to make for someone, like maybe a college student who wants to make their dorm room a bit more festive.

The free quilt pattern and tutorial can be found here: Snowman Quilt Pattern
