Cotton + Steel Fabrics, in their product description for this free lawn chair pattern, had this to say,
These iconic metal chairs are the stars of anyone’s vintage backyard daydreams.
Yes indeed. A quick look on Google brought me to a present day business in Texas who sell all manner of retro metal furniture, including chairs in retro-delicious colors. Honestly, as a child, I thought they were ugly, as they were often rusty from the elements. But, I’d take shiny and new any day, you? Click here to see some Retro Metal Chairs. While you’re there check out their Lawn Chair Nation T-shirt. Hilarious!
But real or imagined, this lawn chair quilt block pattern for foundation paper piecing would be a fun make. Devon Iott created the block using Cotton + Steel’s Cotton Lawn fabric collection.

Brenda Ackerman says
Good Morning Scarlett, Yes, instantly I thought of both of my Grandparents homes sitting outside in their metal lawn chairs and visiting with them just like a “big” girl when it was just the two of us. So this is a great memory block to make and put into a quilt or just finish it off and hang it up as a memory flash mini quilt! Thank you once again for finding a unique and special quilting block to make plus a new blog site to look around and discover new techniques and tutorials and possibly a new friend. Have a fantastic creative day!
