Kerby Smith of We All Sew created this project, and it’s a win-win. He took a photo of a friend’s puppy and digitally manipulated onto a red heart with a black ground. He printed the image to fabric, then stitched into the quilt block you see here. Finally, Kerby attached Louie the French Bulldog to a plain black tote. Voila!
There’s no way he would leave Louie in the car and be forced to use plastic at the store checkout counter. I bet you have a beloved image perfect for your own personalized tote – one you would never leave behind on a grocery run. We win the cute award and the landfills are well – less filled.
Kerby takes you through the process in a photo tutorial.

Personalize Your Tote With A Photo Quilt Block, by Kerby
Editor’s note 2/26/2017: Thanks to alert reader Dot for letting me know that Kerby is a “he” not a “she”. My apologies to Kerby; the pronoun is now correct.
