I’ve only seen Joan Lintault’s art quilts in books, and even then I’m awestruck. So, if you happen to be in Vermont or can visit this fall don’t miss Joan Lintault’s exhibit at the Shelburne Museum. Besides the artist’s work, this exhibit includes quilts Joan has collected over the years, quilts that influenced her work. Runs through October 30, 2011.

This stunning pattern, available as a digital download from Connecting Threads, offers a clever and approachable way to incorporate circular motifs into your quilting projects without the stress.
Circles can be intimidating—let’s be honest. They’re beautiful, bold, and add a dynamic element to any quilt, but cutting and piecing them neatly? That’s a whole different story. This pattern is perfect for quilters who want the wow factor of circles but prefer a less technical approach.
What I particularly love about this pattern is how it balances simplicity and sophistication. The playful use of color and layout creates a quilt that feels modern and fresh, while the design elements allow for plenty of creative expression. Whether you’re a beginner looking to tackle your first ambitious project or an experienced quilter wanting to try something new, this pattern has something for everyone.

People should be aware that many roads in Vermont are washed out and some towns are still isolated, except for emergency vehicles. If you’re planning to see this exhibit in the near future you should call ahead to check to see if the route you intend to take is safe and passable.
