All of these Christmas table runners are adorable and a table runner is a great project for creating a traditional keepsake for the family.
My great-grandmother was a seamstress by trade. She would often take old clothes that she no longer needed and use the fabric to create quilts and she made a beautiful table runner. It was a tradition passed down from mother to daughter and eventually to me. One Christmas, I lost the table runner and began to worry about what would replace it. I began searching for old clothes in thrift stores that I could use, but nothing seemed quite right. I couldn’t find anything that matched the traditional design of my table runner.
I was about to give up when I came across an old dress that my mother had saved from a relative. It was the perfect color and fabric, and it reminded me of the original design. With a little bit of patience, it was finally ready to be sewn into a new table runner. I am so grateful that my mother saved this dress and that I was able to take it and make a replica of my great-grandmother’s original table runner.

Quilted table runners are a great way to add a little extra Christmas cheer to your table. They are simple to make and can be done in a few hours. All you need is some fabric, a sewing machine, and some quilting skills.
To make a table runner, you will need a piece of fabric that is at least 48 inches wide by 66 inches long. You will also need a piece of batting or a piece of foam insulation that is the same width as your fabric. Next, you will need to cut your fabric into two equal pieces. You will then need to fold one of the pieces in half so that the long edge is now 24 inches wide. Now, you will need to sew the long edge of the fabric to the short edge of the fabric, using a seam allowance of 1 inch. You will then need to do the same thing to the other half of the fabric.
Once you have sewn the Fabric together, you will need to flip it over so that the right side is facing out. Now, you will need to unfold the fabric so that it is now 66 inches wide. You will then need to quilt the fabric using a zigzag or a straight stitch. .
