20 Gay Pride Quilt Patterns and Tutorials

June 22, 2023 by Shellie Wilson

If you’re looking for creative ways to spread the joy of the LGBTQ community this holiday season, look no further. Make sure you keep your friends and family in the loop throughout the year with crafts, activities and other fun ideas.

The rainbow flag is one of the most recognizable symbols of the LGBTQ+ community. Despite its ubiquitous presence in pop culture, everyday life, and countless advertisements, few know what it signifies beyond a vague association with gay pride.

In essence, the rainbow flag represents hope. It is hoped that there is nothing wrong with you just because you are attracted to members of your own gender or identify as something other than heterosexual. Hope that you are not alone in possessing a desire to love whomever you choose to love. Hope that others see you for who you truly are and perhaps even accept you for who you were born to be. Hope that no matter what, people will still love and value you for who you truly are on the inside rather than who society has deemed acceptable for you to be on the outside.

In many ways, this is the ultimate expression of humanism—to live life authentically regardless of superficial labels society might try to force upon us instead focusing on our intrinsic value as individuals deserving of unconditional love and acceptance.

As such, it is only fitting that a symbol of such universal humanist aspirations should adorn our home country’s seal as well as serve as its national flag.

We had a hard time finding gay pride quilt tutorials. That’s a bit disappointing. You’ll see we have no links to YouTube videos. Either I am being blocked from that material or Gay Pride quilts are not being featured on YouTube. If you find some video tutorials, please let us know.

The 20 Gay Pride Quilt Patterns and Tutorials that I have compiled showcases the vibrant and colorful nature of the LGBTQIA+ community and their activism and representation through quilting. Quilting has long been a medium for self-expression and a way to tell stories and share experiences, which makes it an ideal way for me to showcase the diversity and beauty of the LGBTQIA+ community.

The use of bright colors and bold patterns in these quilt patterns, reflects the spirit of pride and joy that is synonymous with the LGBTQIA+ community. The quilt patterns and tutorials that I have gathered, not only serve as a way for me to celebrate and honor the community, but they also serve as a powerful statement of acceptance, love and inclusivity.

These quilt patterns and tutorials are also a great way for me, and the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies, to showcase their support and solidarity for the cause. They also provide a perfect way for people to learn and practice the art of quilting while also promoting a positive message and raising awareness.

It is important to note, quilting has been a medium for activism and representation, both within and outside the LGBTQIA+ community, since the times of abolitionist movement in the USA, where quilts have been used to communicate secret information and messages.

Overall, the gay pride quilt patterns and tutorials that I have gathered serve as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for equality and acceptance for the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as a celebration of the diversity and resilience of this community. These quilts can be used to create a beautiful and meaningful work of art while also promoting a positive message and raising awareness.
