10 Free Scrap-Busting Christmas Quilt Patterns

October 23, 2021 by Claudia Porter

Christmas is a time of joy, love and warmth. One way to spread this joy is by creating quilts that represent the holiday spirit. Quilting is a wonderful craft that has been around for centuries and it is a great way to bring warmth and comfort to your home. Not only are quilts a great way to decorate your home, but they also make great gifts. Whether you’re looking for a special gift for a loved one or just want to make something special for your own home, making a Christmas quilt is a great option.

For those who are on a budget or who have a lot of fabric scraps at hand, scrap-busting Christmas quilt patterns are a great option. These patterns allow you to make use of fabric scraps and small pieces of fabric that you may have left over from other projects. Not only are these patterns budget-friendly, but they are also a great way to reduce waste.

If you’re looking for free scrap-busting Christmas quilt patterns, here are 10 options to choose from:

Show off your scraps with this easy isoceles triangle retro quilt.  The green background in the photos really sets off those holiday novelty fabrics.

Filled with sparkling Christmas stars, this beautiful pattern shines!

For a modern twist on the Christmas tree you may want to try out this chevron design.

About as scrappy as triangles can get, this quilt twinkles with all of the different fabrics used.

Easily made with some of your holiday fabric stash, this festive design almost looks like poinsettias.

This design in large diamonds shows off the holiday fabrics perfectly.

Here’s an easy and charming quilt pattern to get you in the mood for Christmas.

The scrappier the better in my opinion, and this beautiful Christmas tree is all about scrap-busting.

The sawtooth stars in this beautiful quilt will make it the star of your holiday decor!

Here’s another version of a Christmas stars quilt in two color waves which make it quite striking.

There’s something special about old scrap fabric. It’s been through so many stages of life, and it has a story to tell. It’s been loved and used, and it’s held memories for generations.

I have 10 boxes of scrap fabric, and I was saving them as well as a few boxes from my own Grandma. I love the memory of her as I use her scraps of fabric to create  Christmas holiday decorations.

It’s such a simple process, but it’s so special to me. I can’t help but feel like I’m honoring her every time I use her fabric. It’s a way to keep her memory alive, and it’s also a way to save money.

I’m sure my Grandma would be proud of me, and I know she would be happy that I’m using her fabric to create memories that will last a lifetime. Thanks, Grandma!

Scrap fabric has a special significance and holds sentimental value for many quilters. The fact that it has been used and loved, and has been part of someone’s life and memories, adds to its charm and value. Using scrap fabric in quilting projects is not only a way to save money, but it also helps preserve the memories and stories associated with the fabric.

For those who have scrap fabric inherited from a loved one, using it in quilting projects can be an even more meaningful experience.

It’s not just about saving money; it’s about saving memories and honoring the past. Quilting with scrap fabric provides a unique opportunity to preserve family history and connect with loved ones who have passed on. It’s a wonderful way to pay homage to those who have touched our lives and to create new memories that will last a lifetime.
