Call ’em vintage or old, these appliqued mushrooms – circa 1970 book The New Barbara Taylor Book On Quilting by Barbara Taylor – are worth repeating. Published in a time when ‘magic’ mushrooms were a thing, imagine my surprise to learn the active ingredient responsible for invoking magical experiences, psilocybin, has and is still the topic of academic research. If you’re curious, do a search on ‘Ronald Griffiths’ and ‘John Hopkins’. But I digress.
This book was a flea market find by expert quilter, Kevin Kosbab. You probably know him from his blog Feed Dog or his book, The Quilter’s Applique Workshop. He had a lot of fun with his mushroom project.
