Rotary Cutter Blades After buying this carpet cutter at my local Harbor Freight, I feel like Lee in that Swiffer commercial who exclaimed, “I’ve been living in a fool’s paradise.” Notice the product description says, “Ideal for Cutting Carpets or Quilts“. Right now, if you visit Jo-Ann Fabrics online, they are selling 1 blade for $17.99.  Yes, it’s the top brand, an Olfa, but is the ‘better quality’ enough to justify the difference in price? I plan to find out. I’ll use these in my next project and let you know. If you have already used a carpet cutter to cut fabric, do share your thoughts with us. {Image uploaded by editor}

The border, in blue, is straight line quilted. Turn it over and you’ll see a pieced back, which is a great use of the smaller cuts of the sheet. I do love a thrifty sewer, and a generous one. My thanks goes to Chris of The Tattooed Quilter for introducing me to this online shop through his interview with Lindsey – who along with her husband – founded it. Chris engages his readers by prompting them to enter “t-shirts for quilters” in a Google search and see what images come up. Well, I did it, and I can tell you what comes up; tons of T-shirt quilts that commemorate the likes of high school and college. Sweet, but not particularly cool. Conversely, Patchwork Threads is cool. Click the link to read the interview: Emailing with the Tattooed Quilter [image credit: Patchwork Threads]
