Book: Tile Quilt Revival

According to Barbara Brackman’s Material Culture, this book Tile Quilt Revival: Reinventing a Forgotten Form is coming out in January 2010.

She explains,

Tile quilts are done in an applique technique that covers the block, yet exposes the background in what looks like grout.

Sarah from The Cutting Table Quilt blog made this quilt from a charm pack, making it come together super fast. She says using precut fabrics is a great way to get back to sewing if you find yourself in a slump. I give her an A+ for her choice of colors and the scalloped border. Technique: Fussy cut to perfection

I trolled the web looking for fussy cut fabric motifs. I found this wonderful example – a mermaid in a Dresden plate block by Rita from Free Falling blog.
